Eliza Wilkinson designed '317' collection shot by Dimitar Maleshkov
‘community's creativity and self-expression’
Eliza designed and made six outfits that represents the challenges of growing up in a council estate and the community's creativity and self-expression.
The collection is called '317', named after the bus route, the designer frequently used in her hometown, Bullsmoor to Waltham Cross.
The outfits blend tailoring and street-wear styles and features accessories that reflect the typical connotations of council estates.
The blue plastic carrier bags used in
the collection symbolize the struggles faced by single mothers who have to carry all their shopping home alone.
Maleshkov expanded the project by using a council estate and the dirty streets of London as location inspiration for the outfits.
